The Airlite Snowshoe project started out as an idea that something had to be done about the number of incidences of stranded snowmachiners due to mechanical breakdowns, lack of fuel or just inexperienced riders. About 7 or 8 years ago a couple of snowmachiners on a nice sunny spring day went for a ride in the deep powder from the previous night. Around noon one of the men ran out of gas, got on the back of the other man's machine to head back. He ran out of gas as well. Long story short, these two were less than a mile from the lodge at mid day. The snow was so deep they didn't make it far before night fell. They were found under a tree the next day suffering from frost bite and exposure then medi-vaced to town. With a pair of snowshoes each, these men could have walked out in the same day and maybe even got back to their machines with a can of gas. As many snowmachiners won't carry bulky snowshoes strapped to their machines for obvious reasons, they could have carried the Airlite.

Although originally designed for snowmachiners, our marketing research has increased the target market group(s) substantially. The light aircraft/bush pilots, dog mushers, mountain rescue groups, State Troopers, Fish and Game officers, National Guard Air Rescue pilots, hunters, skiers, and the list of those who have expressed a good deal of interest in this product goes on.

What it boils down to is that anyone who lives, works, or plays where deep snow can become a nuisance, a hazard, or life threatening should have a pair handy.

Who knows, if those men, that we've all heard about, who had left their families behind in their stranded snowbound vehicles to try and walk to get help, might still be alive today if they had a pair of these snowshoes tucked away in the trunk
